The Daodejing is a collection of texts created over many years around 300 BC. A classic work of Daoism, it is attributed to Laozi. Excerpts from this text were recorded in Chinese and analyzed with the help of computers. Various transformations of the speech melody determine the musical progression.
By duplicating the voice recording in different outdoor spaces, a relocation of this text “in the world” is attempted. With assembleing a transducer loudspeaker on the corpus, the cello becomes an autonomous, hybrid instrument body and can “speak” itself.
